Grunt - Last Grip to Sanity CD (Freak Animal: GLGTS01)
One of the releases that suffered the same chaotic conditions as so many of Grunt releases. Instead of being properly released, material was scattered all over the place. First material was meant to be lathe cut 12″ on Australian label back in 2003. After cancellation of entire label idea, Freak Animal quickly issued small CDR edition to get the material out there. With regrets of wasting good material on CDR format, there was 110 copies vinyl edition issued in 2005. All these were quickly sold out, yet “Last Grip To Sanity” has unexpected results. In mid 00’s, Bizarre Uproar was awaking from couple years of slower activity. He had desire of updating the sound of BU to direction how “Last Grip To Sanity” sounded like. While back in early 90’s, Bizarre Uproar had been major influence for Grunt and projects had worked together for many releases. Now situation was the other way round. Discussions of gear, methods of recording followed by what some people call the golden era of Bizarre Uproar. Ripping feedback, shrieking vocal attacks, grinding loop pedal on the bottom and crude metal junk on top, heavy slow drum sounds with eerie feedback on top. Many things that defined that era of Bizarre Uproar and the spirit of F&V, can be also found from “Last Grip To Sanity” that remains one of the most striking Grunt releases in its stripped down, live in rehearsal room -approach. Almost 20 years later, “Last Grip To Sanity” is available on real pressed digipak CD. No remastering. Sound as in original recording!. $13.67

Grunt - Peeturien Rooli (Freak Animal: FreakCD049)
Finally, after what seems like forever and a day, a new full length studio recording from the almighty Grunt! Recorded between 2007-2009, making it the longest recording task of the project so far. Peeturien presents some of the new sides of Grunt, but with the touch known from before. No harsh noise, but an innovative mixture of fierce power electronics with echoes of early 80´s Ramleh & Sutcliffe Jugend, experimental organic noise influences a la Organum & Ferial Confine, as well as heavy dominant euro PE/industrial attacks with rhythic elements and metal percussion in the vein of Vivenza, Test Dept and Militia. Exclusively Finnish language lyrics and samples, with themes related to the history of Finland from the early turbulent years of civil war to the post-WWII atmosphere. 64 minutes with 9 songs presenting a wide variety of moods, sound sources, compositions, and approaches, blended into album that could be said is unique, even in the extensive Grunt discography.. $13.77

Grunt - Perfect World CD (Freak Animal: GPW01)
Debut CD album of Grunt from 1997 was largerly overlooked. Edition of 100 copies was done by Les Disques Bruitistes. Label had passion for the 90’s DIY network noise, publishing works of Francois Douris, Outermost, Sonic Disorder, and more. This album of Grunt, was the transition moment, possibly last of the release that simply “emerged”. Old style of merely collecting together various unreleased tracks, that would make up a release. Recorded in late 1996 and first months of 1997, all home-recordings with analogue 4-tracker. From harsh noise to eerie drones, from SJ and Ramleh inspired dirty industrial noise experiments to Gerogerigegege, Hanatarash, Violent Onsen Geisha inspired goofy racket. Everything thrown together in one disc. Listening material more than two decades later is revealing. What may be lost in lack of coherency, is counterbalanced by the aesthetics of 90’s DIY noise scene. One can never know what the next track will be. Technical excellency is replaced by youthful and playful approach of discovering ways to make noise. Lack of direction, is direction itself. Sonically it is the link between the very early works and what soon would become then known Grunt sound when 1997/1998 started era of more coherent works like Europe After Storm, Terror & Degenration, Grunt/Cloama collaboration and so on and on. While album is barely noticed, it did make some impact. Roemer of Macronympha sent letter complimenting the perfect oscillation of some tracks and said that he took couple tracks as the source material of upcoming Macronympha release. Which one, I can not remember, but couple tracks of this CD might be recognized among some late 90’s Macronympha noise. Original hand-made art is presented first time in full color. No remastering. Sound as in original recording!. $13.67

Grunt - Sacrosanct Imperium Single-Sided LP (Freak Animal: GSILP)
Re-issue of a 20 minute tape that came out after the 'Myth Of Blood' album. Some concluded it to be superior material compared to the full length. Whether this is true or not, Freak Animal acknowledges the strength of material to be worthy of a vinyl reissue. Constant demand of the tape version has resulted in the material being widely available, so vinyl edition is quite small. Three raw yet also atmospheric tracks of industrial-noise, hammering electronic pulses, distorted screaming vocals and broken sonic waste. The vinyl is a one-sider, including all the music on one side and pasted-on graphics on other side of the vinyl, making it resemble a picture-disc. Includes all the graphics and lyrics of the original tape version.. $18.67
