Maculatum - The Nameless City (Malignant: TumorCD59)
The Nameless City is the debut of Maculatum, the much anticipated collaborative project of Malignant dark ambient stalwarts Collapsar and Rasalhague. 6 tracks of visionary and cinematic black ambience based on Lovecraftian mythology, populated by unseen cosmic horrors and shapeless forms. The sound here is vast and luminous, and yet simultaneously menacing and oppressive…swirls of sprawling drones infused with ethereal murk and a steady stream of richly textured percussion, cavernous creaks, terrifying rituals, and heavily reverbed, ghostly vocalizations that arise from deep within the jungle and ruins of an ancient civilization. This is exactly what you want in a collaboration such as this…the best aspects of both Collapsar and Rasalhague brought together, without sounding derivative of either project. Limited to just 500 copies, in slim, fold out eco-wallet, this is of course a must for all those that appreciate dark ambience that goes beyond the realms of the ordinary.. $4.0

Maeror Tri - Hypnobasia CD (Zoharum: Zohar112-12)
Maeror Tri was a project operating since the mid-80s until 1997, when they released their last album entitled “Emotional Engramm.” In their works they penetrated such genres as minimalism, ambient and industrial music, and borrowed drone aesthetic from classical music. In addition to seven regular albums on CD and LP, they released a number of cassettes. They contained much rawer recordings compared to those from the trio’s regular albums.
One of these two tape albums is “Hypnobasia” originally released in 1992 by the Italian label Old Europa Cafe. It was the fifth tape in the discography of Maeror Tri. The following rerelease is expanded with 3 additional tracks lifted from various artists compilations from 1989-1992. All the recordings have been remastered for this release. $12.0

Maison Close - S/T (Nuit Et Brouillard/Force Majeur: Force005)
Re-stock! Cold and obsessive heavy electronics nicely mixed with dark atmospheric soundscapes. Lots of sampled vocals and segments, evolving in a cinematic fashion, becoming more delerious & angst ridden as it proceeds (particularly on the haunting 9th track, ‘Pain’).. Inspired by the movie Johnny Got His Gun. Fits nicely among label mates Propergol and Radiodrama, but also with some similarities to Navicon.. $6.0

Maldur Atai - Borgata (Autarkeia: ACD085)
Fourth full length from this post-industrial project from Lithuania. More powerful and well crafted soundscapes in the vein of previous works, with maybe a few more samples than I recall being used before. Not a bad thing, just a distinguishing character. Otherwise, we're talking percolating synth beds, swarming textural murk, and darkened atmospheres with an ominous touch. Like all works prior, recommended, especially for those that like their Deutsch Nepal works in the earlier vein.. $10.0

Maldur Atai - Checkpoint (Autarkeia: ACD047)
Debut CD for this rising Lithuanian industrial ambient project. The recent vinyl releases suggested good things to come and for the most part, Maldur Atai delivers with an hours worth of material, most of it in the heavily atmospheric vein. There's Deutsch Nepal reference points here (or, to be more vague, perhaps early CMI will suffice), but also maybe Burning Flesh era Inade - dark, sweeping, currents of sound that build and grow as the track progresses, interspersed with samples, and rhythmic pulsations. It's definitely not as polished as either of the aforementioned projects, but the core ingredients are in place, and you can tell that there's great things to come from this project., so you may as well jump on the bandwagon early! Lmtd 300.. $10.0

Manikari - L'Océan Rêve Dans Sa Loisiveté (Second Session) CD (Zoharum: ZOHAR153-2)
Three years after the release of "Continuum Sonore Part 7>14" back in 2014, the remarkable French duo Maninkari returns to Zoharum catalogue with their new offering. Just like the title says, the new album is a continuation of the recordings entitled "L'Océan Rêve Dans Sa Loisiveté". Once again, the duo proves that they are unmatched in creating unbelievable and unclassifiable sound texture."L'Océan Rêve Dans Sa Loisiveté, Second Session" is much based on improvisation and leaves room for more melodies, especially for viola, the resonances of the bodhran and its repetitive rhythms gives access to a form of trance and have a character of composition. This album with the subjective title transports us in a frenetic universe where the sea mother of idleness reigns in all power, land and sea form a vibrant balance. The voluntary control of certain melodies is felt through cymbalom and santoor and sharp long ethereal resonances. The voluntary reverberation of certain instruments resounds like a dream prayer. The CD is housed in an ecopak sleeve and is strictly limited to 300 copies. The album was mastered and the cover was designed by Maninkari. The whole production process was overseen by Michał Porwet.. $5.0

March of Heroes - March for Glory (Rage in Eden: Rage57)
Debut album of French martial industrial act March of Heroes. Atmospheric, Neoclassical music inspired by events from World War II, especially the war between Russia and Germany. The concept is to show everything that describes this terrible conflict - heroism, brutality, desolation, propaganda, sadness - something very pronouced in a such conflict. Musicaly MOH is in the vein of Sophia or Karjalan Sissit (with a huge nod to Laibach circa 'Macbeth') and is a must have for fans of military tunes. CD in digipak.. $11.0

Martyria - Martyria CD (SOLD OUT) (Malignant: TumorCD117)
SOLD OUT. With its great textural depth, sepulchral atmospheres, and exotic, richly detailed ritualistic passages, the stunning, self-titled debut from the Greek male/female duo Martyria signifies the arrival of a vital new entry into the world of ritual/dark ambience and a welcome addition to the Malignant roster.
Running 41 minutes spread over five tracks, the disc opens with “Logos”, a haunting piece track of gorgeous female keening, angelically drifting over a bed of primitive Byzantine rhythms and liturgical chants. It deftly sets the tone and lays the foundation for the proceeding pieces, which move from bottomless, subterranean drift and luminescent drones, to more sinister realms marked by slow, tribal percussion, resonating wood instrumentation, and elongated vocalizations. All of it flows seamlessly, rising from tendrils of wood smoke and incense, rooted in spiritual and ceremonial darkness, and bound together by atavistic and organic means.
Shibalba, Halo Manash, Herbst9, Funerary Call, and Voice of Eye.. $8.0

Mauthausen Orchestra - Digression (Silentes: SME1040)
Pierpaolo Zopp / Mauthausen Orchestra returns with a new album comprised of one 40 minute track where the fury and aggressiveness of his usually harsh sonorities of a Noise/Power-Electronics nature are merged with quieter, more disorienting parts of wavering frequencies, unexpected rhythmic pulsations, and cosmic, synthesizer drift.. $6.0

MD/MO - Material Modulations (Old Europa Café: OECD165)
Second and final collaborative work by MB [Maurizio Bianchi] & MO [Mauthausen Orchestra], recorded before the premature departure of Pierpalo Zoppo, the man behind Maurhausen Orchestra (R.I.P.). I'm always a bit wary of releases like this, since they generally never deliver what you want or expect, at least based on historical output, and let's face it, both acts have been hit or miss with more recent output. So, I'm quite pleased to say, this delivers the goods, for the most part, with a roaring churn of distortion, factory din, loops, and atmospheric "noise" that's constantly in motion. A few other tracks aren't quite as dynamic - more wispy, piercing tones and singular frequency modulations, but still with that sense of decay.. $8.0

Mekanorganik - How to Extract Sunlight From Cucumbers (Neuropa: NRP26)
'How To Extract Sunlight From Cucumbers' is the debut album of the Belgian post industrial music formation MekanOrganiK, featuring three members of the well-known industrial percussion band MILITIA: Frank Gorissen, Sandra Janssen and Frank Van Hoof. They play rhythmic music using a combination of conventional instruments (percussion, guitar, effects, sequencer, wind instruments...) mixed with tools, machines and 'organic materials' such as wood, water, sand, stones, bones and skulls, glass and even cucumbers. The music of the album is based on the adventures of Lemuel Gulliver, the main character in Jonathan Swift's book 'Gulliver's Travels', which is a great and sophisticated satire of human nature based on Swift's experience of his times. 'Gulliver's Travels' is an anatomy of human nature and society and so is the music of MekanOrganiK. Stylistically, expect some resemblance at times to Militia (particularly in the sort of pulsating, rhythmic churn displayed in periodic tracks, such as Air Turbulence Machine, This Forest is Floating, or Biomechanoid), though this comes off as ultimately more experimental and psychedelic, offering a somewhat bizarre collection of textures, percussion, and noises. That being said, this has a great, hypnotic flow that begs to be listened to from start to finish. A nice companion to Militia, particularly when Neuropa has promised new work from them in the coming year. Cool, eh? I'm actually jealous.. $8.0

Recorded in 1995 and first released in 1996 on the US label REPLAPSE, this album was re-released several times in both, CD and Vinyl formats. This is first time in which album was completely re-mastered by Masami Akita for CD re-release with the addition of an exclusive bonus track taken from the original PULSE DEMON recoding session (the original DAT) and never used up to now. Album comes in a six panel digifile presenting the lavish original and very psychedelic holographic-waves-art-work. PLAY VERY LOUD AND MERCILESS!. $14.33

Metadevice - Studies For A Vortex CD (Malignant: TumorCD127)
As a founding member of the now defunct Sektor 304 and a major contributor to Beyond Enclosure, Andre Coelho is no stranger to the Malignant roster, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome him back with his brand-new project, Metadevice. For those familiar with his previous work, you’ll recognize a lot of the same traits and characteristics: assemblages of bruising musicality, as fed through a cacophony of factory dirge, alienating drones and insectile frequencies, often with distorted rhythms and resonating clangs, and vocals that range from spoken word to more aggressive and in your face. No matter the project, Andre has always managed to tap into an authentically old school industrial sound, and Metadevice is no exception. A must For fans of IRM, Einsturzende Neubauten, STROM.ec. $10.0

Metadevice - Turba CD (New Approach: NAR26)
"Turba", a Portuguese expression for “mob” or “rabble”, is Metadevice's return to a more evident structured sense of composition, often rhythmically guided, combining a wide range of sounds from harsh throbbing synths, loops, electrified drones and even rusty-edged guitars to build sharp industrialized music.
Driven by the intense vocals of Rui Almeida (experimental rock NU's frontman), whose lyrics in both Portuguese and English merge his own words with appropriations from T.S. Eliot, Thomas Pynchon or Nathaniel West, this is an album about collective alienation, raving individualism and a deep dive into the hyperreality of our modern times. This mass movement is not a liberation, but an inexorable escalation of autophagic violence and atomization towards the void.
Released in a limited 8 panel digisleeve CD, fully illustrated by A. Coelho.. $14.33

Militia - The Face of God CD (Old Europa Café: OECD278)
This album was first released directly by the band in a special boxed edition of which only very few copies were made available, now available in a 6 panel digipalk and lmtd to 300 copies
The Face of God" contains 11 tracks, a combination of industrial soundscapes and metal and skin percussions, wind instruments and vocals, in the best tradition of the Belgian industrial percussion band Militia
Musically The Face Of God mirrors this bird’s-eye perspective on the broader history of western religion. While it’s still firmly located within the martial and percussive industrial sounds, much of the record, especially its first half, manages to connote a pre-industrial, and in fact pre-modern mood. The slowly rotating drum cycles of “Thank You Oh Lord” suggest medieval mills or the creak of wagons more than industrial factories, and the sampled church bells which drone throughout do nothing to dispel the murky feel of long dead saints. It’s not until close to the midway point of the record, where the dusty clatter and insistent core beat of “Sermon”, augmented with slight, sorrowful pads, that things seem to sound more like the byproducts of our own age. Interestingly, at the point where the music becomes more tense and contemporary, reactionary counter-Christian themes and ideologies fall under the lens (and don’t come out any stronger than their orthodox counterparts), almost as if a dialectic of religious positions follows in the footsteps of the development of industry.. $13.99

Mind & Flesh - Martyr Generation (Nuit Et Brouillard: Force007)
"Martyr Generation" is the first CD by the Oslo / Norway based musician Anders B. under the Mind & Flesh moniker. While initial recordings of his first industrial band, Katabol Process were done in summer 1996, Anders started to compose alone under the name Babyflesh around October 1998. Starting from that point, two full-length releases were recorded and produced: "Curiosity killed the Angel", CD-R on Slaughter Prod. in November 2002 and "New Wave of Cynicism", CD on Vendlus Records in February 2005.
Sometime in 2010, Anders B. decided to change the name into Mind & Flesh as he lost any connection with what could refer to "Babyflesh" as a name for a musical project. The nine tracks of "Martyr Generation" were recorded between 2005 and 2008. Among them two feature collaborations with other musicians.
The music of Mind & Flesh is a mix of dark & heavy analogue electronics and pounding rhythms with processed vocals. His sound can be filled under the Death Industrial genre, without any doubt. Hypnotic and powerful at the same time.Comes in a nicely designed three-panel digipack in a limited edition of 500 copies.. $5.0

Minoy - In Search of Tarkovsky CD (Cold Spring: CSR273CD)
Minóy (1951-2010), a major figure in DIY noise music, produced some of the most remarkably engrossing, beautiful and imaginative work-of-art albums released on cassette in the 1980’s.
Created in 1986, “In Search Of Tarkovsky” is dedicated to the late Russian Director Andrei Tarkovsky (“Solaris”, “Stalker”, “Andrei Rublev” etc). A unique world of musical expression, with dense audio abstractions where the origin of any particular sound isn’t quite discernible. A form of labyrinthian, droning collage electronics, otherworldly and dreamlike, at times nightmarish, at times sad, but always bold and deeply affecting.
Composed after the director’s death, it contains many trademarks of Minóy’s style: manipulation of shortwave radio, use of spring reverb to get those strangely echoing, claustrophobic environments, and then the howling vocals, piling-up and distorting. Minóy plainly mourns the director’s death but in such a unique way there is nothing to compare it to. Two long-form, elaborate pieces (just under 1 hour), essential to Minóy’s aesthetic of “cinema of the ear”.
This is the first Minóy material ever to be reissued. Unavailable since the original cassette release, these tracks have been remastered from the original archive files and are presented for the first time on CD in a matt-laminate digipak.. $12.67

Monocube - The Rituals CD (Malignant: TumorCD101)
Following a recent appearance on Drone Mind Vol 5, Ukranian act Monocube makes his way into the halls of Malignant for his second, full length recording, featuring nine tracks and just over an hour worth of material ensconced in shadowy, enveloping atmospheres, intact with all the hallmarks of classic dark ambient: arcing, cinematic textures, elegiac melody, and timestretched drift. As The Rituals progresses, it becomes increasingly populated by something even more ominous and bleak; undertones of ancient tribalism and fiery invocations arise, mixed with the blackened soot of distant factory churn and the burning remnants of an ashen wasteland. Featuring collaborative tracks with Treha Sektori, Apocryphos, and Asmorod, The Rituals is an immersive and compelling work, seamlessly tied together by a binding embrace of darkness.
Tracklisting: Visiones III, Drowned Sun, Downwards (feat. Apocryphos), Totem Incantation, Fires Shifting – Nocturnal Motion, Through Our Blood, Father Fenris, Anthracite Glow (feat. Treha Sektori), Initiation (feat. Asmorod).. $5.0

Monopium - Mesmerized (Beast of Prey: BOP64)
Debut album of polish project MONOPIUM is definitely something new and different on our Polish music scene. Based on fascinations of dadaism, avantgarde, atmosphere of old Berlin cabarets and surrealism is unusual music project. Over 40 minutes of psychodelic and avantgarde music. The mix of different genres and styles that cannot be described in one word. If dadaists were anarchistic negation of European heritage, rejecting todays conventions and restrictions for the sake of free and unbound fantasy and bit of trivial mistification, so what is MONOPIUM today? Mors Sonat - Comforts in Atrocity (Crucial Blast: CBR92)
Though the name may be new, those who explore the more terrifying sounds found at the intersection where black metal, industrial noise, power electronics and black ambiance meet surely know the minds behind this collaboration. Featuring Mories (of Gnaw Their Tongues / Aderlating / Cloak Of Altering / De Magia Veterum infamy) and Australian black noise/metal technician Nekrasov, Mors Sonat sounds little like their other projects, crafting a cold, hallucinatory strain of aural dread that draws from a strange mixture of twilight chamber music, ghastly death industrial sounds, harsh electronic noise and gleaming dark ambient, while tapping into the sort of psychic unease and violent chaos that will be familiar to fans of their previous efforts.
It's definitely a much more atmospheric and often subdued sonic terrain that Mors Sonat explores on 'Comforts In Atrocity'. Across the six long tracks, they blend together darkly gorgeous chamber music sounds (aided by guest cellist Aaron Martin,) with blasts of excoriating black noise, pools of cloudy dark ambiance, clanking industrial horror, and vicious bouts of power electronics-style abuse.
Recommended to fans of everything from Funerary Call and Nordvargr's blackened electronics, Shinjuku Thief's 'Witch Trilogy', and Cold Meat-style death industrial, the Cd edition presented in a six panel digipack.. $10.0
